Tomorrow uses Solarisbank’s banking platform for sustainable neo-banking services

Press Release Tomorrow & Solarisbank, Berlin/Hamburg, 12.04.2018

Tomorrow, the first sustainable mobile banking offer, and Solarisbank, the first digital banking platform with a full banking license, are starting a long-term cooperation. Tomorrow will, in future, use the banking infrastructure of Solarisbank to offer a mobile current account with a sustainable debit card at the start of its impact banking offering. The product will be available from summer 2018.

“The digitization of the banking market is increasing demand for truly innovative products. We are convinced that, in combination with a state-of-the-art platform such as Solarisbank, we can establish sustainable finance as a sustainable banking offering,” says Jakob Berndt, co-founder of Tomorrow. “With its fast processes and well-established technology, solarisBank is the ideal partner for us to implement our mission - and bring sustainable banking out of its the margins”.

Tomorrow is introducing a social and ecological product innovation in the market in addition to new technology. There is no doubt that there is a demand for such products: around 40% of all private investors find sustainable investments so attractive that they would invest their money there (GfK survey commissioned by the Institute for Sustainable Investments NKI, 2017).

At Tomorrow, money becomes an engine of positive change: customer deposits will finance renewable energies, organic agriculture, microcredits and much more. In the near future, tomorrow will develop a comprehensive financial platform, in which also savings and investment options offered, curated according to systematic sustainability criteria. Each payment made also goes to support a reforestation project. Using the Solarisbank infrastructure, Tomorrow offers all the functionalities that customers expect from a modern mobile banking, offering: real-time push notifications, fully digital account opening, debit card configuration via app, and categorization of income and expenses.

“With our banking as a platform concept, we enable innovative business models to shape the future of the financial sector,” says Roland Folz, CEO of Solarisbank. “We are pleased to have a partner, in Tomorrow, with whom we can best use the market opportunities for sustainable banking. Tomorrow’s progressive offer represents real innovation in the market.”
